Tyler Hornbeck is an extremely talented up and coming young rider and trainer and we are very excited to have her here at Atwell Dressage as Briana’s assistant trainer.
She began taking lessons with Briana in 2015 and became a working student in 2016 during which time it was obvious to all of us that she was an invaluable asset to the team. Like Briana, Tyler has grown up on a horse and has been riding since before she could walk. While she is relatively new to dressage she has a very diverse background successfully showing in western, hunt seat, saddle seat, halter, and driving divisions as well as at the friesian horse shows through the world championship level.
As a rider and trainer she has a natural talent with horses that have developed a reputation as the problem children, ones that need retraining, the hot/sensitive ones as well as also being very experienced and talented with training and showing stallions. She is all about doing things right from day one, absolutely does not believe in any short cuts along the way and never hesitates to go all the way back to square one with a horse if that is what it takes. She is a soft, kind, and compassionate rider/trainer and really takes the time to listen to the horses and develop a plan that will be the most successful and positive experiences for all. She is an asset to any horse or student in a show environment because she is no stranger to big shows and their atmosphere so she is very experienced with maintaining her cool while showing and not letting nerves get in the way of giving her horses the best rides possible. Utilizing Tyler as an instructor and/or training is a wonderful way to have access to a top quality program on a budget as you are not only in Tyler’s very talented, hard working and capable hands but you are also getting full access to Briana’s training and expertise while not having to pay the higher prices for full training with her. Briana oversees all of Tyler’s students and training horses, is always available to step in and offer assistance if needed and they work side by side daily so they are constantly watching each other’s rides and being eyes on the ground for one another.
As an instructor Tyler brings a very positive and upbeat atmosphere to her lessons which is particularly appealing to jr/yr’s as they naturally feel they can relate to her. She is a very calm and patient instructor with a wonderful ability to put things into terms that can be easily understood by students. Helping students with fear or anxiety to overcome those obstacles is one of her passions and she does a fantastic job helping them conquer their fears one step at a time knowing exactly when to give them the nudge to push their boundaries and when to back off and hold their hand a bit more while always staying positive and reassuring to them.
At this time Tyler is working very hard to develop her clientele alongside Briana while continuing to assist with Briana’s training horses, overseeing the day to day care and management of the horses, developing her horse Constantine up the levels, and building her partnership with Brandon RF in anticipation of showing him as well. She is accepting horses in training and new students at this time both at Atwell Dressage or she will also travel within the greater Moore and Hoke counties area. Please contact us for more information, pricing, and availability. For students who don’t have their own horse she has a couple of wonderful lesson horses available. She is available to teach beginners through advanced students both children and adults. Training packages are available with Tyler ranging from starting horses under saddle, 30-60-90 day tune ups, sales and consignment, and to be shown/campaigned by her.
Numerous references are available from students and clients of Tyler’s on request.
